scalp micropigmentation
What is SMP?
Scalp Micropigmentation or SMP, is a non-invasive hair loss solution that uses micro-needles to deposit pigment into the skin of your scalp. This results in the appearance of tiny hair follicles on the scalp that help thicken and create the look of a fuller head of hair. If you are starting to thin, recede, or if you are completely bald, any gender will love this service. Every SMP treatment is completely customized according to your individual needs, aesthetic preferences and availability. There is no downtime!
A typical Scalp Micropigmentation treatment requires 2-4 sessions, spaced about two weeks apart, with each session lasting 2-3 hours. This is to allow the pigmentation to settle between sessions so your artist can create an ultra-natural three dimensional layered effect. The exact number of sessions and session duration depends on your healing progress and skin type, and we assess your progress at every stage to optimize your result. We also provide treatment for Alopecia as well as scalp scars.

frequently asked questions
Does scalp micropigmentation hurt during the treatment?
Most clients describe the sensation as mild discomfort rather than pain, similar to light scratching or tingling across the scalp. The level of sensitivity varies depending on the area being treated, with the hairline and crown often feeling more noticeable than the sides. Numbing options are available if needed, though many people find the process manageable without them. The discomfort is temporary and stops as soon as the session ends, with no lingering pain afterwards.
Can I still shave my head after the treatment?
Yes, shaving is perfectly fine and won’t damage the pigment once the scalp has fully healed. In fact, many clients keep their hair very short or completely shaved to maintain the most natural-looking contrast between the tattooed dots and their skin. You should avoid shaving the treated area for the first week whilst the skin is still healing, but after that you can return to your usual grooming routine without any impact on the result.
How soon can I return to work or exercise?
Most people return to work the next day, though the scalp may look slightly red or feel tender for a few days. Light activities are fine, but you’ll need to avoid heavy sweating, swimming, and intense exercise for at least a week to allow the pigment to set properly. Sweat and moisture can interfere with healing and cause pigment to fade unevenly. Once the initial healing period is over, you can resume all normal activities without restriction.
Will the pigment fade or change color over time?
The pigment will gradually lighten over several years, which is normal and expected. High-quality pigments are designed to fade naturally without shifting to unwanted tones like blue or green, though sun exposure and skin type can influence how the color ages. Most clients schedule a refresh session every three to five years to restore the original density and color match. Regular touch-ups keep the result looking consistent and prevent noticeable fading from becoming an issue.
Can this treatment cover scars from hair transplants?
Yes, scalp micropigmentation is often used to camouflage scarring from previous hair transplant procedures, including linear scars and small donor site marks. The pigment is applied directly into the scar tissue to match the surrounding tattooed or natural hair follicles, reducing the contrast and making the scar far less visible. Scar tissue can behave differently than normal skin, so the pigment may require additional sessions or adjustments to achieve even coverage and consistent color matching throughout the treated area.
